Keep your finance app's listing compliant and visible.
ASO for finance apps starts with who publishes them: the App Store wants services such as banking, investing and crypto exchanges submitted by the entity that provides them, not an individual developer, and Google Play asks every app for a Financial features declaration and requires personal loan terms in the store listing.

What makes ASO different in this category?
- 01
What the Finance category covers
On the App Store, Finance is for apps that perform financial transactions or help with business or personal finances: personal finance, mobile banking, investing, bill reminders, budgets, tax, insurance. On Google Play, Finance covers banking, payments, ATM finders, financial news, insurance, taxes and portfolio or trading apps.[4][5]
- 02
The provider must submit the app
Guideline 5.1.1(ix) asks that apps in highly regulated fields, such as banking and financial services or crypto exchanges, be submitted by the legal entity that provides the service, not an individual developer. Under 3.2.1(viii), trading, investing and money management apps should come from the financial institution and hold the licenses needed wherever they are offered.[1]
- 03
Separate rules for crypto
Under Guideline 3.1.5, wallets must come from developers enrolled as an organization, mining must happen off device, exchanges may only be offered where they are licensed, and apps may not give out cryptocurrency for completing tasks.[1]
- 04
Loan terms belong in the listing
On Google Play, personal loan apps must set their category to Finance and show the minimum and maximum repayment period, the maximum annual percentage rate and a representative total cost example in their metadata. On the App Store, Guideline 3.2.2(ix) also requires all loan terms to be disclosed. Neither store allows personal loans that require repayment in full in 60 days or less.[1][3]
- 05
The Financial features declaration
Every published app completes the Financial features declaration on the App content page in Play Console, including apps with no financial features. Apps that declare personal loan features must upload more documents, and in some countries a valid license.[2]

Can I publish a budgeting app from an individual developer account?
Apple's Guideline 5.1.1(ix) covers apps that provide services in highly regulated fields such as banking and financial services, and 3.2.1(viii) asks that trading, investing and money management apps come from a financial institution. Check the full App Review Guidelines to see which rule your app falls under.
Does an app without financial features need the Financial features declaration?
Yes. Google Play asks every published app to complete the form; if you offer no financial features, you select that option.
