App Store screenshot sizes 2026: every iPhone and iPad size

To submit an app in 2026, App Store Connect requires at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display), 1179×2556 or 1206×2622 px in portrait, and, if the app runs on iPad, one for the 13-inch iPad, 2064×2752 or 2048×2732 px; each size takes 1 to 10 JPEG or PNG images without transparency.

Which screenshot sizes are required to submit?

Apple's screenshot specifications page, checked on 5 November 2026, says you must provide:

  • iPhone: at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display).
  • iPad (if your app supports iPadOS): at least one screenshot for the 13-inch iPad display.

Everything else can be scaled down from what you upload. Each device size takes 1 to 10 screenshots, in .jpeg, .jpg or .png, and images cannot include alpha channels or transparency.

Many pages still say the 6.9-inch size is the only "required" iPhone size. Apple's current text names the medium Dynamic Island display instead. The same page is not fully consistent, though (see below), so the safe route is to upload two iPhone sets: 6.9-inch and 6.1-inch.

What are all the iPhone screenshot sizes?

Portrait sizes are listed; landscape is the same pair reversed (for example 2868×1320). "Scaled from" tells you which set App Store Connect uses when you leave a size empty.

Where does Apple's page contradict itself?

The summary at the top of the specifications page names the medium Dynamic Island display as the required iPhone size. The table further down still says the 6.5-inch Face ID size is "required if app runs on iPhone and screenshots for iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display) aren't provided." Read together:

  1. Upload a 6.1-inch medium Dynamic Island set (1206×2622 or 1179×2556). It covers the stated submission requirement.
  2. Upload a 6.9-inch large Dynamic Island set (1320×2868 is the largest). It covers the table's 6.5-inch condition and gives the sharpest images on the biggest phones.
  3. Let App Store Connect scale everything else.

If App Store Connect itself shows a required slot as empty when you submit, trust the upload page; it reflects what your submission needs.

What are all the iPad screenshot sizes?

How does scaling work?

If your interface looks the same across device sizes and languages, Apple says you only need screenshots for the highest required resolution; App Store Connect scales them down for smaller sizes. You can still upload sizes yourself when a smaller layout really differs, for example when a feature is only on iPad. Removing a screenshot also removes it from every size that uses a scaled version of it.

What about Mac, Apple TV, Vision Pro and Apple Watch?

PlatformAccepted sizes (px)
Mac (16:10)1280×800, 1440×900, 2560×1600, 2880×1800
Apple TV1920×1080, 3840×2160
Apple Vision Pro3840×2160
Apple Watch Ultra 3, Ultra 4422×514
Apple Watch Ultra, Ultra 2410×502
Apple Watch Series 10, 11, 12416×496
Apple Watch Series 7, 8, 9396×484
Apple Watch Series 4–6, SE368×448
Apple Watch Series 1–3312×390

Apple Watch screenshots must use the same size across all localizations.

Where do screenshots appear, and which ones matter most?

Up to ten screenshots show on the product page. In search results, depending on orientation, the first one to three screenshots appear when there is no app preview, so Apple advises making those first frames carry the essence of the app. If you upload app previews, they always play before the screenshots on the product page. That makes frames 1–3 the ones to design first; How to design store screenshots that convert covers what to put on them.

From iOS and iPadOS 27, apps can also add creative assets for the product page header and search results, which are separate from screenshots: see New App Store creative assets.

What content rules apply to screenshots?

Two App Review Guidelines matter most (guidelines last updated 16 October 2026):

  • 2.3.3: screenshots should show the app in use, not just title art, a login page or a splash screen. Text and image overlays are allowed, for example to show input or extended functionality.
  • 2.3.8: metadata, screenshots included, must be suitable for a 4+ rating even if the app is rated higher.

Guideline 2.3.7 also says metadata such as screenshots should not include prices or terms that are not specific to the metadata type, and 2.3.10 bars names, icons or imagery of other mobile platforms.

How do I upload screenshots in App Store Connect?

  1. In Apps, select your app, then select the version under the platform in the sidebar.
  2. In Product Page Information, open the App Previews and Screenshots tab.
  3. Pick the device tab and drag your files into the well, or click Browse Assets to reuse approved files from the Asset Library.
  4. To manage every size and scaled slot, click View All Sizes in Media Manager.
  5. For other languages, switch the localization in the menu at the top right.
  6. Submit with the version. Screenshots can be uploaded while the version is in Prepare for Submission, Invalid Binary, Rejected, Metadata Rejected or Developer Rejected status.

Screenshots and previews now live in the Asset Library, so you can reuse them for custom product pages and product page optimization tests without uploading again.

Checklist before you upload

  1. 6.9-inch set at 1320×2868 and 6.1-inch set at 1206×2622, portrait (or the landscape pairs).
  2. 13-inch iPad set at 2064×2752 if the app runs on iPad.
  3. PNG or JPEG, flattened, no transparency.
  4. One to ten per size; the first three tell the story on their own.
  5. The app in use on every frame, no splash or login screens as the main image.
  6. No prices, no other platforms' names or devices, 4+ suitable imagery.
  7. Localized captions for every language you localize.

How can I see what rivals show?

The Search mirror page in the Uptika panel shows your App Store or Google Play search result card, with the icon, title, subtitle and first three screenshots, next to the apps that rank above you for a tracked keyword, and the Rival log records the day a competitor changes its screenshots or icon. Without signing in, Listing X-Ray reads any public product page, including how many screenshots and previews it has. The Free plan covers one app in one storefront: start free.

The Google Play equivalent of this page is Google Play screenshot, feature graphic and icon sizes; icons are covered in App icon sizes, video in App preview video specs, and testing different sets in Product page optimization. For the bigger picture of store optimization, start with What is ASO?.

Questions

What screenshot sizes does the App Store require in 2026?

Apple's screenshot specifications page says that to submit you need at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display), accepted at 1179×2556 or 1206×2622 px in portrait, and at least one for the 13-inch iPad (2064×2752 or 2048×2732 px) if your app supports iPad. The same page's table also marks 6.5-inch (1284×2778 or 1242×2688) as required when no 6.9-inch set is provided, so uploading both a 6.9-inch and a 6.1-inch set is the safe route.

What iPad screenshot size does App Store Connect need?

The 13-inch iPad size: 2064×2752 px portrait or 2752×2064 px landscape, with 2048×2732 also accepted. Smaller iPad sizes are scaled from it if you do not provide them.

How many screenshots can I upload?

Between 1 and 10 per device size and per localization, as .jpeg, .jpg or .png files without an alpha channel.

Why does App Store Connect reject my screenshot dimensions?

Usually because the file is not one of the exact accepted pixel sizes, has an alpha channel (transparency), or is in the wrong orientation for the slot. Export at one of the listed sizes, flatten transparency, and check portrait versus landscape.

Do I need 6.5-inch screenshots?

Only if you do not upload a 6.9-inch set. The table on the specifications page marks 6.5-inch (1284×2778 or 1242×2688) as required when screenshots for iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display) are not provided. If you upload a 6.9-inch set, the 6.5-inch slot can use scaled versions.
